Where should a Transformer for Outdoor Lights be Placed?

Landscape lighting is a wonderful method to enhance the beauty of your home, but if you use it carelessly, you may create a huge mess. You can install your transformer for outdoor lighting securely and correctly using the information in this tutorial.

How to install a transformer for landscape lighting is a question we get a lot. Making sure you have the proper transformer first is the best way to go about doing this. You shouldn't try to install it if you don't have the proper transformer. You must choose the proper location for the transformer before you can properly install a landscape lighting transformer. Here are a few of the most popular locations where your transformer can be installed:

Transformer Placed to the Ground

- A transformer that is anchored to the surface of the ground, typically on a concrete block, or to a wall or pillar. The most popular kind of transformer is this.

Step 1:

The transformer should be placed roughly where it will be mounted. The distance between the bottom of the transformer and the ground must always be at least 12 inches. Make a mark on the top hole with a pencil. Drill a hole about an inch deep with a hammer drill in the top hole you marked. Next, put a masonry anchor and screw in the hole and secure them there. The transformer can be hung on the anchor screw by leaving about a 1/8-inch gap after threading in the anchor screw.

Step 2:

Mark the bottom hole of the transformer when it is suspended vertically. Drill the lowest anchor sleeve hole while moving the transformer out of the way. Together, insert your masonry anchor and screw into the hole, and then use the screwdriver to tighten it down. You can now tighten down the top screw for the transformer once the bottom screw is in place.

Step 3:

Measure how much wire is required to go up inside the transformer while it is in place, then remove the extra.

Underground Transformer:

- A transformer buried beneath the earth. This is more difficult than it appears since a professional must dig up the entire area surrounding the transformer.
